Research and implementation of 3D scanning pipelines for AR/VR character creation — translating real people and objects into deployment-ready 3D assets for mixed reality and interactive applications. An early idezo research area that became a core service.
As AR and mixed reality applications began requiring photorealistic digital characters, the pipeline from real-world capture to a deployment-ready, rigged asset was slow, fragmented, and expensive. The opportunity was to build expertise in this pipeline and offer it as a practical service.
idezo explored photogrammetry and structured-light scanning approaches, building internal capture and processing pipelines. The work combined hardware knowledge (camera rigs, depth sensors) with software pipelines for mesh cleanup, rigging, and export to game engines — developing the full chain from scan to deployable character.
Established 3D scanning and character creation as a core idezo service, referenced in both AR application development and immersive media projects. The capability informed the understanding of how physical objects and people translate into AR/VR experiences.
